We are searching for a Controller/Sr Controller to join our team and lead our Accounting team to new heights. The Controller will oversee the General Accounting and Payroll for AMES 1, LLC, a federal contractor, and will work out of AMES 1's headquarters office in Anchorage each workday.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the company’s financial activities, AP, AR, multi-state payroll, expense reporting/reimbursement, and project and overall financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal controls.
- Monitor internal controls.
- Coach and engage the accounting team to ensure they have an optimal working and growth experience.
- Evaluate financial data, performance metrics, and trends to optimize cost efficiencies and profitability.
Requirements
• Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes, internal controls, and best practices.
• Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Proficient in budget creation and analysis software - preferably in Quickbooks.
• Sage/Corecon experience – major plus.
• Multi-state payroll knowledge.
• Must be able to lead team with dignity and respect.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize.
• Ability to create and manage budgets
• Stable job history.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent leadership skills.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Economics, or Finance, or the equivalent work experience
• At least 3 years of experience in a Controller capacity role, or the equivalent.
• At least 8 years of experience in Accounting/Finance.
• 2+ years of federal construction industry experience required - DoD contractor strongly preferred.
• 3+ years of payroll management experience in multiple states strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to work onsite each workday at the AMES 1's Anchorage headquarters.
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to work out of the Anchorage office each day.
• Must be able to stay focused for long periods of time.
